The Color Code

Your photos don't look like the ones you keep saving.
You have the eye, you're just missing the method.

It isn't the preset, and it isn't another 50-step workflow. They're running a method you were never taught: see the color that's already in the frame, then direct it on purpose. 4 steps, any photo, any editor.

Works in any editing software · yours for life

950 photographers learned the method. So can you.

You open a photo you love and freeze. You don't know where to start. Or you're halfway in and suddenly have no idea what to do next.

So you move the sliders, because doing something feels better than doing nothing. Some photos accidentally look great. Most just look fine. And you couldn't really say why, either way.

Then you scroll, and there it is again. Someone else's work. Same kind of light, same gear you own. But their color pulls you in. It gets saved, shared, remembered. Yours gets a like and disappears.

After enough of that, a quiet thought creeps in: maybe some people are just born able to see color, and you're not one of them.

You were never the problem. The way you were taught to edit, one slider at a time, hoping, was. Here's what changes that.

"I have been able to approach my editing differently and with a clear thought process, not just madly moving sliders and hoping for a miracle. The value is exceptional, I wish I had purchased it years ago!"

"I was skeptical to purchase as I thought this would just be another generic course. I still have a lot to practice but at least I'm not feeling lost now. Totally worth it. Only regret is that I should have purchased it much sooner."

Ajay

"It doesn't just give tools and ideas but helps one to put them into action. I understand color grading 10 times better than I did before."

Lou Lou
Why you can trust me on this

I'm Lou. I started photography 15 years ago but only got serious about it in 2017, as a hobby. And I quickly became so frustrated with color grading that I actually gave up photography for a couple of years. I was sure I just didn't have "the eye" for color.

Then, while I was learning motion design, I landed in a color theory class for designers. And that's when it clicked: what if I applied this to my photos?

From there I built a method I ran on every photo, and it became the style I have today. It changed everything. I went on to work as a photo retoucher in studios, learned a huge amount from mentors who pushed me, and in 2025 I decided to hand the method to other photographers. That's how The Color Code was born.

This is the method I wish someone had given me before I gave up. So if you've ever felt that way, hear me: you HAVE the eye. You ARE talented enough. You were just never handed the method. Once you have it, I dare you to share your vision with the world.

You have the eye. Here's the method.

The outcome

This is what color grading with intention looks like.

What it actually is

It isn't a software course.
It's a color method.

You won't learn which button to push. You'll learn to see the color already in your photo, decide where it should go, and direct it on purpose, then apply that in whatever software you already use.

The Method: the 4 steps I run on every single photo.
The Color Lab: my own color tool that does the hardest part for you.

What it's not: a Photoshop tutorial · a preset pack · a "copy my exact settings" course.

The method

Four steps. Every photo.

1 · IntentionDecide the story and the feeling before you touch a slider.
2 · AnalysisSee the real colors hiding in your photo (in Adobe Color, Photoshop, or the Color Lab).
3 · Color ChoicePick the harmony that supports your story.
4 · TransformationMake the edit, on purpose, in your software.

See how the edit comes last? You've been trying to make it step one this whole time.

The Color Lab

The Color Lab

Web app · Mac · Windows · iPhone · Android · offline

For years, I used Adobe Color to analyze the colors in my photos. Then I realised I wanted a tool that answered all my needs as a photographer. So I built my own, the Color Lab, and made it available to every Color Code student.

The Color Lab does the hardest part of the method, the analysis, for you. You sample the colors on your photo, name them, and analyze them in one click. It suggests the color harmonies that fit, and tells you exactly which colors to manipulate, and HOW.

It's a web app. It runs right in your browser, so there's nothing to download and no app store involved. Want it to feel like a real app? Add it to your dock or home screen in one tap, on Mac, Windows, iPhone or Android, and use it even offline. It's not a requirement; the method works without it. It's the tool that makes it even easier. And it's yours, for life, the moment you join.

On software: works in any editing software that lets you adjust color. I demonstrate in Lightroom and Photoshop, and a full edit is shown start to finish in Lightroom/Camera Raw, so you never need Photoshop to use the method. The deeper Photoshop workflows are a bonus you can grow into.

The real question

But will this actually work for me?

Let me answer it straight, because it's the only question that matters.

The method doesn't care how "naturally gifted" you are. It isn't built on taste you either have or you don't. It's built on seeing what's already in your photo and making deliberate choices about it. That's a skill, not a gift, which means it's learnable. Whether you picked up a camera last year or ten years ago.

I know, because I'm the proof. I quit photography convinced I didn't have the eye. The only thing that changed was getting a method. 950+ photographers have had that same turn since.

Questions

Before you join

Is this a course on how to use Lightroom or Photoshop?

No. And this matters. The Color Code teaches color: how to see it, choose it, and direct it. It's not a software tutorial. You bring your software skills; I give you the color decisions to make with them. If you've ever felt you know the sliders but not what to actually do with them, that's exactly the gap this fills.

I only use Lightroom. Will the Photoshop parts be wasted on me?

No. The whole method, and a complete edit, are shown in Lightroom/Camera Raw. The two Photoshop workflows are a bonus. Watch them for the color decisions (which apply anywhere), and you've got a clear next step the day you want to go deeper. Plenty of Lightroom-only students get great results without ever opening Photoshop.

How long do I have access to The Color Lab, and do I need to download anything?

For life. And no, nothing to download. The Color Lab is a web app: it runs right in your browser, so there's no app store and no install required. If you want it to feel like a real app, you can add it to your dock or home screen in one tap, on Mac, Windows, iPhone or Android, and it even works offline. Every update is included, free, forever.

I already know color theory. Is this too basic?

Knowing color theory and being able to apply it to your photos are two different things. Most people have the first and not the second. This is the bridge: from "I know what complementary means" to "I know exactly what to do with this image."

I'm a beginner. Is this too advanced?

If you're comfortable making basic adjustments in your editor, you're ready. Everything is broken down step by step, and you can rewatch as many times as you need.

Is it a PDF or a video course?

It's a video course, plus the Color Lab tool, plus downloadable cheat sheets, worksheets, and practice files.

What if it's not for me?

You're covered by a 14-day, no-questions-asked refund. Email me within 14 days and I'll send your money back.
